Sveti Juraj is a small fishing village at the foot of the
Velebit mountains, here the old pass road leads over the mountain
Oltari (1002 m) and so a small village was created. The harbor is
actually just a wide bulwark with 4m water depth at the head and
barely 3m on the south side. This created a small basin for local
boats. The passage east of Lisac island is 2m deep and you can
anchor well there in the southern bay Uvala Kol. The place has two
diving schools and a nature trail in the mountains.
Fishermen sell their fresh catch at the harbor in the morning. On
the shore promenade are numerous restaurants and bars. Above the
town are the remains of the prehistoric settlement of Lopsic and
also in Roman times there was a settlement here, connected to the
island of Lisac by a stone bridge. Over time, the city partially
sank into the sea and even today you can see the ruins.
